Rajkumari is a commentary on the contemporary advertising industry and the portrayal of women in the commercial world. It questions what it is to ‘be desired’ in this world and if products we are being sold define who we are. The male voiceover is contrasted with a day in the life of a woman in a small town in Central India, we question what she is seeking in her life, is it perfume?

Ankita Anand is a moving-image artist based in London who works around the themes of the technological uncanny and documentary film. Originally from India, her work is influenced by her upbringing in a contrasting environment which helps her gain a unique perspective on the world we live in. Shifting from documentary to fiction, her videos feel strangely familiar yet unfamiliarly strange.
